Old Gore 10 "Quite Fast" shocker
A very good turn out for the not quite so quite popular Old Gore 10. Was it the good weather? The wind was a slight headwind out with it definitely helping on the way home. With what must be a first, the top step of the podium had to be shared with a Ross and a Forest rider. Cookie and Andrew Jones must both be eyeing up the course record, in what may turn out to be a good season long battle. Cookie is rumoured now to be looking into a pointy helmet to compete with Andrew and Jerry. Me personally. I think it could be to hide the dominant gene hair colour! Kerry made a big jump in performance surprising a few of his club mates. Fallon was flying to the turn, but his slightly larger size frame (and not cycle frame) may have hindered up the hill to the finish. Hefin just steamed on looking very fast and smooth up to the finish. Ian Smith produced another good time knocking a minute off his last performance on the course. Me, happy, legs just starting to fire up. Look out those in front of me at present. Deano seamed to enjoy his ride, excelling up the hill to the finish. Porridge was another happy soul also improving his time. Won't be long before he, too, will worry the front-runners. Clive made his maiden voyage finding the evening a little hard. AJ was smiling before the start, but that had disappeared by the end. Josie was very strong out to the turn but suffered good on the way back, but in the afore-mentioned battle with Tom from last week, she has just pipped him this week. Tom looked good up to the finish so must assume he was to relaxed out to the turn. One things for sure, his miles are paying off. Will he ride the 12 hour this year? Mike Druce in a bold rash moment removed his front mudguard and put in his racing wheels, which resulted in a 4-minute improvement. Don’t tell Dennis! Mark (Taff) had his first taste of Old Gore, recording a time only 30 seconds slower than Walford. This will I’m sure see him inside evens next week. Will has also made the jump up in performance, but might not quite be enough to break the first cycling goal of 30 minutes for 10. Bill looked fast on the cross over, but must have suffered somewhere, not being happy with his performance. On a positive side, later at the rowing club, he did leave us his wallet so we could have several lemonades on him, before returning an hour later for it. Steve M punctured just onto the Marcle Straight. Deciding it too difficult to complete the course, turned around to confuse the timekeeper in a time of 14 minutes. Rider of the Night this week goes to Mike Druce.
